Biographies
Beth Helsby - Principal, keyboard and vocal teacher YMSK Principal and Yamaha teacher Beth Helsby is an experienced keyboard and vocal teacher, well known in the Kendal area. Beth has a degree in music, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and holds the Certificate of Teaching from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (CT-ABRSM). She has been teaching music for six years, specialising in singing and keyboard and is experienced in teaching all age groups, from pre-school children to adults. Beth has taught in a variety of locations, including primary schools, secondary schools and further education Colleges as well as in less formal settings. Like all Yamaha teachers, Beth has received intensive training in the Yamaha method to help her provide the very best teaching. Stuart Macfarlane - Guitar teacher Stuart Macfarlane has played the guitar for over thirty years, during which time he has played most types of music. He began playing big band and function music with his father, local band leader Duncan Macfarlane, and then moved on to writing and performing on several rock LPs. He has been in numerous bands over the last twenty years, including Freeway and the Fabulous Picasso Brothers, in which he also played bass guitar and keyboard. He has played at many festivals and gigs on the national music circuit, including performances on cruises and in Belgium . Currently he plays with local band Storm, playing many venues in the northwest. Stuart has been teaching guitar for the last few years and has experience in teaching students of all ages. His extensive knowledge of music means he is able to cater to many tastes, ranging from AC/DC to Jeff Buckley, and Muse to Frank Sinatra!
